BBC production Florence Italy
Michael Palin And The Ladies Who Loved Matisse
A love affair with art is celebrated in Michael Palin And The Ladies
Who Loved Matisse.
The programme focuses on the Cone sisters, Etta and Claribel, who amassed one of the world's largest and most valuable collections of modern art including the largest collection of Matisse works at the start of the last century. With presenter Michael Palin, the programme travels to Florence, where the sisters' passion for art was initially inflamed, jumps over "the pond" to the Cones's beautiful mansion in North Carolina and even takes a virtual-reality tour of their city apartments crammed with millions of dollars' worth of art courtesy of Maryland University. Nephew Edward Cone talks enthusiastically about his eccentric aunts. And, Claude Duthuit, a grandson of Matisse and a personal friend of the Cones, remembers meeting Etta. (From BBC program details)

…thank you for a wonderful job. Your entire staff was attentive to our shooting schedule and the details which can befuddle so many who are not familiar with the peculiarities of production crews. And most important, you made us feel like we were the most important people in Florence. We all left singing your praises. Thank you very much
