Venice was once one of Italy's most important ports, the Western gateway to the silk route and exotic spices from the East.
We'll begin with a visit to the Church of the Frari, complete with masterpieces by Titian, before moving on to the Rialto area.
This tour will take us to San Marco, then the city's commercial quarter, where we'll learn the fascinating secrets of this powerful class and the beautiful, sophisticated courtesans who wooed and entertained them after the long work day was done.
