Visit a fabulous historic castle wine estate deep in the Chianti hills with fantastic views of the Tuscan countryside. This award winning estate not only produces wines but also quality extra virgin olive oil and superb saffron. The 12th century castle featured is the very place the ruling noble families plotted the famous bloody coup and assassination that occurred during mass in Florence's cathedral in 1478.
Your great guide will entertain you with fascinating stories on the lifestyles of the Medieval and Renaissance families that reigned over the Tuscan countryside. Your will also gain interesting insights into the history of wine, saffron and olive growing from Roman times. Hear about the fascinating current day renaissance of Tuscan saffron production as you visit the saffron ‘field'.
Stroll through the estate vineyards and olive groves. Enjoy visiting the castle's atmospheric cellars and learn a little about wine production, then taste the wonderful wines and olive oil with a light Tuscan lunch.
